West Ham Progress Continues
Date published: 12/03/2010
At the end of February all the offices at the new West Ham garage were occupied and head office and operating staff were settled in to their new home. Mid October saw the first two buses enter the workshop area on a trial run, an articulated bus and a Trident, that were used to check access to the inspection pits. Everything was found to be satisfactory.
The garage was handed over by contractors Mansell on 5th November at an informal event led by Dick Halle, TfL Director of Surface Transport. Garage staff moved from their current temporary buildings into the new premises two weeks later. Buses will still be parked in the current temporary open yard until the new parking area is completed in spring. Work on fuelling and washing facilities, as well as the yard surface, is making good progress, as is landscaping work on the east side of the site.
Head office staff have now moved to the first floor offices.
